September 16, 2011, San Diego, CA – Empower Electronics announced and unveiled the lighting industry’s first high voltage electronic ballast for HID lighting at the 2011 Lightfair International Tradeshow in Philadelphia on May 17, 2011.

There are two models of the programmable electronic ballast, each capable of supporting 347 and 480 volt installations without the need for external step-down transformers. The hHID400 is factory programmed for either metal halide or high pressure sodium lamps of 150 – 450 watts. The hHID1000 supports lamps of wattages from 450 – 1000.

Shipments from Empower’s San Diego based warehouse will begin as soon as UL approval is received. That approval is expected by the end of September, 2011.
